Dual Camera Recorder

Record wide and ultrawide simultaneously

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Dual Camera Recorder do?
Dual Camera Recorder uses your iPhone's multi-camera system to simultaneously capture footage from the wide and ultrawide lenses. In Video mode, it saves a portrait video (9:16) from the wide lens and a true landscape video (16:9) from the ultrawide — both written to your Photos library at the same time. In Photo mode, it saves both angles in a single tap.
My iPhone isn't showing the camera preview. What do I do?
Make sure you have granted camera access. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and enable access for Dual Camera Recorder. Then relaunch the app.
Videos aren't saving to my Photos library.
The app requires permission to add photos and videos. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos, find Dual Camera Recorder, and set it to Add Photos Only or Full Access.
The app says "Dual camera not available."
Simultaneous dual-camera capture requires an iPhone XS (A12 Bionic) or later. Older iPhones cannot run both cameras at the same time at the hardware level. See the Requirements section for the full list of supported devices.
How do I switch between Video and Photo mode?
Tap the Video / Photo toggle at the bottom of the screen. In Video mode the record button is red; in Photo mode it turns white. The app saves to your Photos library in both cases.
Why is the ultrawide video in landscape (16:9)?
The ultrawide lens has a very wide horizontal field of view, making it ideal for landscape framing. The app physically rotates and centre-crops the ultrawide frames so the saved file plays correctly in every video player — no metadata tricks that some players ignore.
Can I tap to focus?
Yes. Tap anywhere on the main preview to set the focus and exposure point. A yellow focus ring will appear briefly at the tapped location.
Where are the saved files?
All videos and photos are saved directly to your Photos library. Open the Photos app and look in Recents — you'll find both the portrait and landscape versions from each recording session.
How much storage do the videos use?
Storage usage depends on your recording length and scene complexity. As a rough guide, a one-minute dual recording saves approximately 200–400 MB total (both files combined). The ultrawide 16:9 file is typically slightly smaller than the portrait file.
The app crashed or froze during recording. What should I do?
Force-quit the app and check your Photos library — partially recorded files may still have been saved. If crashes happen repeatedly, make sure your iPhone has at least 1 GB of free storage and that no other camera apps are running in the background. Please also contact us with your device model and iOS version so we can investigate.
